It’s Wedding Season!!!

It’s that time of the year where you social media is filled with engagements, weddings, and baby announcements. This year, my little sister got married!!

Tokyo Police Club Live Show @ Amoeba

On Monday, April 28th Tokyo Police Club will be performing a live show at Amoeba Records around 6 pm! Who wants to go with me? They are also playing at the Independent later that night for a SOLD OUT show. But seriously, who wants to go?

Gallery 16: Rex Ray Solo Exibition

On my walks home  from work I always passed by Gallery 16, well that’s if it wasn’t raining like today. Yesterday, I decided to stop in to see what was really going on with the explosion of the color the creeped through the airy space that sits just under the overpass. I got  to take a closer look at Rex Ray’s latest solo exhibition which is on display til the second week of May. Here are a few pieces from the show.

Lemons are a girls best friend

Lemons has been the topic of discussion for social media lately, with The Man Repeller’s article on ‘The Benefits of Drinking Hot Water with Lemon’ to Mind Body Green’s latest recipe on Hot Water with Lemon & Turmeric. I decided I desperately needed to do the master cleanse before my sisters wedding. I got measured for my bridesmaid dress back in November and just received the dress on Easter. Guess what?! It didn’t fit! So I buckled up and decided to try the ‘Master Cleanse‘ everyone’s at least tried once and you know what? It’s really not that bad.  My morning routine was hot water with lemon before my daily black coffee and my master cleanse throughout  the day. I unlike most people actually ate during the cleanse. Oatmeal in the morning, celery & peanut butter for snake, and some sort of veggie dish for dinner. A challenge at finding snacks throughout the day but you’re pretty full on the cleanse. See below on a few dishes i made this past week.

 

Egg white muffins with carrot tops, green onion, oregano, jalapeno, garlic, and topped with tomatoes. Breakfast on the go!

The night before i made veggie tacos. I took the leftovers and made another version the other night. Made homemade hummus, quinoa cucumber salad, black means and corn and homemade salsa for the tacos. Stove top asparagus with lemon & garlic and another side of artichokes.

This little guy has been haunting me every time I got to the refrigerator. Someone put up a recipe for these cauliflower cheddar bacon cups and I finally made them but substituted the sour cream for greek yogurt and used half the cheese required in the recipes.

Veggies soup, with pretty much every veggie name to man in it. Fried an egg for protein, yum!

My typical veggie diet on the regular. I couldn’t live without these + tomato and garlic.

Dinner: hummus coated on the bottom of the plate, stir-fry veggies and cauliflower cheddar cups. Oh, my drink is Lemon water with mint. 🙂

Let’s just say, the dress fits! And I feel good not eating meat. Okay, I had a strip of bacon! But that was to celebrate. Another week left before the wedding. Cross my fingers I can keep this up. If you don’t already cook with lemons, they should be added to everything you make/ drink! Go ahead, squeeze them into your next meal it’ll make everything taste that much better. Oh yeah, they’re good for your digestive system too so what do you have to loose?

Getting Crafty with Yarn

New York isn’t the only crafty state these days! Check out the latest yarn instillation from Knits for Life  that went up earlier this month. The designers are calling their latest monster creation ‘Buttmunches’. Fitting no? You can check it out in person at the Ferry Building.

The only other time I’ve seen something like this was in New York by designer Olek .

Two German Designers to Obsess Over This Summer!

Reality Studio focus on clean lines, basic silhouettes, and a punch of color for a refreshing relaxed yet elegant look this Summer.

Drooling over her use of abstract prints that resemble the earth, wind, and fire or even sky, water, and sand. Her silhouettes drape the female body and create movement in their everyday life.  Her styles are considered a no-brainer if you don’t know what to wear in the morning. Basic styles that can transition into your wardrobe that you’ll wear year after year.

 

Lauren Victoria Craig, designer for LVC takes shape her her Summer collection. Diamond’s are a girls best friend right? Lauren is another designer that loves to play with shape,’ literally’ with the diamond cutouts to the feminine draped pieces that hide all your lady lumps. Another simple piece that adds character to your wardrobe. Lauren is also a former classmate during my college years and a friend that moved from West Coast to East Coast and currently resides in Berlin, Germany.
