On my walks home from work I always passed by Gallery 16, well that’s if it wasn’t raining like today. Yesterday, I decided to stop in to see what was really going on with the explosion of the color the creeped through the airy space that sits just under the overpass. I got to take a closer look at Rex Ray’s latest solo exhibition which is on display til the second week of May. Here are a few pieces from the show.

April 25, 2014Getting Crafty with Yarn
April 22, 2014New York isn’t the only crafty state these days! Check out the latest yarn instillation from Knits for Life that went up earlier this month. The designers are calling their latest monster creation ‘Buttmunches’. Fitting no? You can check it out in person at the Ferry Building.
The only other time I’ve seen something like this was in New York by designer Olek .
Nicolas Cage Art Show in San Francisco
April 12, 2014The day has finally come for Ezra Croft, a Dj, Bed Bath & Beyond employee, well let’s just say an average Joe in San Francisco, woke up one night and decided to curate an art show for one of his favorite actors, Nicolas Cage. For one night only, Nicolas Cage Art Show & Musical Shenanigans will be held at Balancoire in the Mission District. With write ups from The Huffington Post, Bold Italics, Interview on CBS Sacramento, and Jimmy Fallon, they’re expecting hundreds if not thousands to stop by, so show up early! With hundreds of artists submitting their artwork for the show there will be an array of work paying homage to the actor. Check out some of these pieces below.
I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Nicolas Cage, but he sure has been in the news more and more these days. Not only for his mediocre movies, but for his edited version of Miley Cyrus wrecking ball video this past year, still laughing about this one. For everyone who is a fan, here are some of his top movie quotes.
Peace Out San Francisco!

April 1, 2014Haters Gonna Hate on San Francisco Style
April 1, 2014Still the #1 question I get when I meet someone new is, “which is better SF or NY?”. But you can’t really compare. There are too many pros and cons about both states, but style is something they both have in my opinion. It’s different on many levels but it’s still there. NY has it more than San Francisco but that’s because there’s no Fashion District here or let’s be honest, it’s only 7×7 miles long.
I recently stumbled across an article this month from NYMag titled, SOMA: The Stubborn Uncoolness of San Francisco Style. Molly Young writes ” S.F. style is the clothing equivalent of water: The taste is so neutral, you can’t be sure it’s there“. I’m starting to agree after moving back from New York. The first thing I noticed were all the men were wearing either suits (financial guys) or fleece sweaters with flip flops (the tech industry). The girls literally go by an 80/20 rule here, 80% of the week they wear their yoga pants and the other 20% they actually care to dress up. Thanks to Betabrand, which seems to be taking over all social media ad’s these days, has introduced the “Dress Pant Sweatpants. You can all get excited because they’ve come up with yoga appropriate work pants, YAY!
Thanks to GQ for making SF #20 for, ‘The 40 Worst-Dressed Cities in America’
The New York Times says San Francisco, “the land that style forgot”
But people are forgetting about the local designers that still reside, inspire, and create right here in San Francisco. Aside from the typical shopping destinations for most of the San Franciscans here, Gap and Levi Strauss have set up there HQ in located in downtown San Francisco, which makes sense for the laid back lifestyle here.
We might be a small city but we still have some great local designers here, I’ve listed a few of my favorites below. Enjoy!
